Awards & Gala Nights

Events move quickly, and it’s important your photographer does too.

Event organisers have enough on their plate on the day, so whether that means working quietly in the background for candids, or directing guests for the shots your brief needs, I'll adapt to the pace and tone of your event without needing to be managed.

Use this as standalone service, or integrate into your existing function.

Attract clients, impress attendees, and offer a valuable extra to your function.

  • This is my collection of portable strobes, reflectors, and backdrops that I can bring to your event to produce professionally lit headshots for your guests.

Please let me know in advance if this is a service you would like to add on.

  • A few minutes per guest, but if you are only looking for 1 headshot per guest, this can be done much more quickly.

  • I can work with limited space, but the longer the lens I can use the more flattering the outcome. Physically, the setup needs about 2.5 meters of width, with 2 meters of depth. I’ll be standing about 3 meters in front of the subject.

  • Yes, about 35 minutes for the full set up.

    1. Vendors with booths have used it as a way of attracting attendees to their stalls. Guests receive a headshot in exchange for contact information to the booth (email, name).

    2. Or, integrated into an existing conference or function — as a value added extra for attendees, I provide quick headshots for guests.

A staff member with a tablet will record names and emails so photos are sent to each person privately. It is best to do this sequentially, so you can easily match photographs with emails.

    3. As a standalone service, when the team needs new or updated headshots.

  • Absolutely! If you or your team are looking for updated headshots, get in contact below.

Don’t see something listed? I’m just a quick message away to see if I can photograph you or your event.

  • Yes, a Bachelor in Photography with a major in Creative Advertising from the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University.

  • Yes, for up to $10 million.

  • Most events can be fully turned around in a 72 hour period, though more hours on-site require more post-production hours.

Please allow extra time for multi-day events or weddings.

Turnaround times will always be communicated to you.

  • Absolutely - a selection of highlight images will be edited and sent to you the very same day at no additional cost.

This is a fantastic way to quickly get the best images of the day into the hands of your guests or clients, into social media, or into your direct marketing material.

  • There is no quantity cap on the amount of edited images I deliver - my philosophy is that if it looks great, it gets delivered.

Typically this translates to between 60-90 edited images per hour of photography depending on the amount of guests and overall activity level. For example, photography may be kept to a minimum or redirected away from guests during a dinner service — no one over the years has managed to look good in the middle of chewing their food.

  • Images are delivered via a PIN or password-secured private image gallery. The link will be emailed or texted to you. Photos can then be downloaded individually or as an album, with options to choose between downloading full-resolution images or smaller web-friendly sizes.

  • You can email me at nick@nickciner.photography or use the contact form at the bottom of this page.

  • I am centrally located in Fortitude Valley for easy access to events in the CBD, but I have traveled to events in Toowoomba, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, and out past Boonah.

Drop me a line and we can talk travel arrangements.

  • Your event and my obligations to capture it well are serious business, but being personable and approachable are just as important.

I’m aware that in contracting me others may view my conduct as an extension of you and your business, so while my approach towards guests is friendly and easy-going, I am ‘at work’ and always maintain my professionalism.

It also partly depends on the amount of interactivity you want me to have with your guests. Sometimes I am the fly on the wall (when you ask for candids) , and other times the elephant with two cameras (when you’ve asked for eyes-to-the-camera shots and I need to direct guests). I’ll tailor my approach based on our communication.

As an aside, most people are having a night off while I’m at work but I don’t drink while I’m on the job, but feel free to save me a glass of wine for when I’m finished!

  • My dad was a wedding photographer in his youth so I’ve been playing around with his cameras for forever.

But 2026 marks a decade since I photographed my first event as a favour to a friend, and eight years since I registered my ABN to formalise my business activities.

  • As a tool, yes — for something like removing a glowing EXIT sign above a guest’s head because I find it distracting. Or removing scuff marks off of a white wall. Minor distractions.

In terms of image creation or creativity?

No, never. Images delivered to you by me will never be mass-edited using AI tools (or by a stranger overseas), or used as a substitute for actual creative work. I take pride on working on every image one-by-one.

  • Repetitive tasks are great for polish - up to a point - but they can also lead to stagnation.

I never regret learning a new visual skill from trying something new. Even in a familiar setting, every photograph is a chance to apply new lessons, and mix it up with all the tried and tested old ones.
And besides, it’s just more fun this way.
